How to choose your Angles?

Tips to help you choose the best angel:

First of all, you need to know your dish, well what I mean is that what makes this dish special? for example, in a burger, the most important part is the beef patty and the colors of the veggies add to make the burger pop. so keep that in mind when shooting you wanna show that to the viewer you want the viewer to see the image and imagine him/herself eating that juicy burger, so as a photographer you wanna choose a 45-degree angle or lower as shown in the image below.

Now imagine a photographer deciding to photograph a burger and choosing to shoot a top-down angle aka (90-degree angle or flat lay) that doesn’t make sense to you right? you won’t see the most important part of the burger which is the patty all you’ll see is the bun.

Now let’s see another dish. let’s take a salad as an example. this might differ from one salad to another but let’s talk about the traditional salad in a bowl. If you choose to shoot the salad from a 30-degree angle or lower you have so little to see as opposed to the burger. as you can see the difference between the picture on the left which is shot at approximately 20-degree in comparison the picture on the right which is shot at 90-degrees
