Portrait Photography Tips
3 Tips to Improve Your Portrait Photography:
1) Shoot During Golden Hour:
Most probably you’ve heard about the golden hour. why is it talked about a lot? well, the short answer is that it is the best time to shoot since you have a nice soft light with a golden color and most importantly it doest leave shadows under the eye. golden hour is the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset. in contrast to that, the worst time to shoot is at noon since the sun is directly above your subject and that will cast a shadow on the eye and will cause your subject to have “raccoon eyes”.
2) use your surroundings
sometimes photography locations don’t have anything special where it will get the photo to pop, so the best way to combat that is to use your surroundings something as simple as glass can elevate your photo, the reflection on the glass will pop and the subject is seen through the glass as seen in the photo below.
3) Take Photos in Overcast Lighting
Overcast lighting might be annoying for landscape or cityscape photographers however this is where portrait photographers thrive since the clouds act as a huge softbox and that will cause soft and nice lighting on the subject. now you don’t even have to wait for the golden hour to start photography you can shoot at noon as long as it’s overcast lighting.
